"Calming affect of staff in day surgery"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as the patient),

I attended Day Surgery in August for Endoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy.

As a normally laid back person (my friend describes me as any more laid back I would be horizontal)

I had a make over as soon as I set foot in the door to the Unit. I became a gibbering budgie. It seemed as if I left myself outside and became someone else. Nervous, BP up. You name it it was me.

The staff were wonderful, from the booking in clerkess to the nurses. Every one of them was so nice. They had a very calming effect.

The nurses explained the procedures to me from the onset and continued to do so all the way through until it was over. In recovery the care did not change it was the same from start to finish.

I cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention I received, so please pass on my heartfelt thank-yous to all the staff within the Unit.
