I suffered a heart attack and the ambulance took me to St George's instead of my local hospital in Kingston as they knew it provided the best care for my condition. I had a cardiac arrest en route to the hospital and the ambulance crew did a fantastic job in reviving me. On arrival at the hospital I was taken in for an Angiograph within 30 minutes and one hour later I had a blood clot cleared and two stents fitted in an artery. The speed of the procedure undoubtably helped minimise the damage to my heart. I was looked after initially on Coranary Care Unit 2 and the professionalism and cheery personalities of all the staff was a glowing tribute to the NHS. Everything was fully explained to me and the follow up from different specialists (Physio/Occupational Therapist/Speech Therapist/Rehab Specialist etc) was excellent. I could not have wished for better care and the ward was clean and well equipped, albeit a little warm. I was transferred to Belgrave ward for final observation before being discharged. Again, the staff were friendly and attentive and a credit to the hospital. I have no hesitation in recommending St George's cardiac care and I hope they continue to be allowed to operate such an excellent service within the NHS against a backdrop of creeping privatisation and profiteering. Thank you St George's and thank you NHS.
"Outstanding cardiology from the NHS"
