Hello I had the misfortune to visit the hospital yesterday for an outpatient appointment. Parking is currently even worse than normal as building work is underway.and queuing for vacating spaces caused even more disruption. I was in plenty of time for my appointment but by the time a found a space I was 25 minutes late. I should mention that I am a disabled wheelchair user and need to assemble my wheelchair when traveling alone... as I was. I decided in frustration to leave my car on double yellow lines thinking that displaying my blue badge would evoke some sympathy. When I went into the hospital I was warned that even being disabled and the fact that there were no spaces would not escape a fine. I went back out to move my car and noticed that a disabled space (a pitiful number of three!!) in front of outpatients had become available so I quickly broke down my wheelchair and moved the car there. I went to pay at the machine and found the one hours parking charge was a hefty £2.75 But... I had the correct change and found the machine would not accept anything less than 20p. So it is impossible to pay the correct charge! Everyone will be obliged to put at least 15p above the advertised rate in the machine! Who pockets this? Does it go towards providing a better service? Whatever it is used for I deem it fraudulent Kevin Greenfield Tamworth
