"I feel confident in their care"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology

Having recently shared a very bad experience at Hairmyres Hosptial, I thought I ought to share my excellent expeiences too.

I have congenital heart disease and a dual chamber pacemaker. Since the pacemaker team at Hairmyres took over my pacemaker care just over two years ago I can't praise them enough. They've listened to me- they've worked with me to get my settings right for me, they brought in a technical person from the pacemaker company when we were trying to get my settings right, they've contacted the pacemaker company on another occasion to ask questions, they've liaised with my team at the Jubilee, they always call me back if I phone, they've told me to just come down when I've been concerned.

I feel confident in their care and this is really important when you're living with a long term condition. I know they'll always treat me with respect and actually listen to my concerns and help me if they possibly can.

My husband has also attended the cardiology department for an echocardiograph two weeks ago and commented on how well run the department is, this is certainly the impression we have.

Thank you so much for sharing both your and your husband's experiences around the cardiology service at Hairmyres Hospital. We too are proud of the work that the staff do in this department. I'll certainly pass on your comments to the team, who will be delighted that you feel well supported. As you said, living with a long term condition can be challenging and I'm glad that we are able to help ease this a little.

Please keep letting us know both when we get things right and also if we don't, as this can allow us to look to see where we can make improvements.
