"Horrible staff in my time of crisis"

About: St James's University Hospital

Was brought to A&E on Sunday 14th sept 2014 , having taken an overdose. I was with my friend who has filled in the blanks of how I was treated. No bedside manner from the male and female nurse/doctor. I was shouted at and felt very uncomfortable, especially when asked when I had my diagnosed Mental Disorder - "why do you have this, did you have a rubbish childhood?" Who even asks this?! I do remember replying "who even are you?" Anyway. Unfriendly staff, and a nurse who doesn't know how to take blood. I could have done it myself with less pain and hassle.

Dear Sab1986 I am very sorry that you have had such a poor experience of A&E. This is not the standard of care that we aim to provide. I have forwarded your comments to the Matron for A&E so that he can look into the issues you have raised. If you would like to discuss this in more detail please contact the Trust’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0113 2067168 or email patient.relations@leedsth.nhs.uk Kind regards Scott Senior Nurse Patient Experience
