"vulvar biopsy"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

I was given no information about the biopsy itself. I was given the usual generic information about general anaesthetic etc. but nothing about the procedure and what it would entail. It was totally not what I expected at all. I was in a lot of discomfort afterwards and the stitches got infected. I was cut in three separate places and it took me about 4 weeks to recover. I hardly went out of the house or dressed for that matter. Perhaps gyn. department need to produce their own information sheet explaining the procedure and also explaining what happens afterwards. It should also tell you when you are likely to get the results. Giving information after you have just come out of surgery is a waste of time since you are still under the influence of the anaesthetic and can't remember anything. My last visit to the gyny. department was rushed and uninformative. They were actually running about one hour behind and it was lunchtime. This is unacceptable. There were children in the waiting area with their parents getting agitated since they were getting hungry. It was a nightmare so poor service all round.
