Being only 19 and looking about 12, most of my experiences at Darent Valley have been negative ones. I have constantly been treated with little respect, even experiencing a nurse forcibly pushing me onto a bed after I asked how the procedure worked and wanted to know more. However, I am so incredibly pleased with the care and service from the Breast Clinic. I am a slender size 6, with a 26 back and HH cup size. I was referred to the clinic due to constant pain and severe back pain. As soon as I started speaking about the issues I face daily in regards to my breast size, the surgeon I was seen by treated me like an adult, and fully listened to everything I had to say, even acknowledging the emotional symptoms as well as the physical. I was concerned that I would be pushed aside, considering the breast clinic deals with women going trough chemo every day. However, the nurses and surgeons showed a great deal of empathy, and listened to every concern I had. Ultimately, I was told that a breast reduction would be the best way forward, and that I hit all of the criteria with leaps and bounds. Not once did I feel that the surgeons were belittling me or treating me like a child, and not once did they speak to my mother instead of me. I have been given an appointment time very quickly, and cannot stress how personal and pleasing this experience with the breast clinic has been.
