What I liked
The professionism of the key carers - doctors and care specific nurses (stoma nurses and occupational therapists). The care and effort put in by the better nursing staff. Three general nursing staff in particular were outstanding.
What could be improved
Some of the general nurses thought they knew more about the pain I was suffering than I did. They were reluctant to provide the necessary strnger pain killers unless a doctor was present (even thought the drugs had already been prescribed).
Anything else?
I thought three of the nursing staff who cared for me were outstanding, another two or three were good, but the remainder were poor or very poor, showing little consideration to me or fellow patients. The difference in approach between the better staff and the poorer members was striking. Some clearly were born to provide nursing care, others. equqally clearly were simply in the wrong job!
