"Childrens inpatients"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

My 3 year old son was admitted to Dolphins ward for a routine operation (removal of tonsils and adenoids). We were very apprehensive about having the surgery done at Medway due to lots of negative press recently, but the experience we received was truly exceptional. From the first outpatient appointment (end May 2014) to the time we were discharged (end Jult 2014) we could not complaint about a single thing. The nursing staff on the ward were excellent. Nothing was too much bother for them even though the ward was very full and there were some complicated cases admitted. The morning following the operation the Doctors came round to see if my son could be discharged, he was able to be but needed antibiotics. I was expecting to wait for at least an hour before these were available, but no within 10 minutes of seeing the doctors we were on our way home, as the pharmacist had already pre-planned the discharge and arranged for the medication to be ready the day before. All in all the service and care we received was outstanding, don't think we could've had better elsewhere.
