I gave birth to my daughter in novber 2012. I was not satisfied from beginning to due to when I came I the first time because of waters gone and contractions they didn't check me they just told me they would run me a bath because they had no hoist for the pool and so I was unable to use it which I believe is wrong. Every woman should have the choice to a water birth. They ran me a bath which turned out to be cold and so I was laying there on my own shivering and contracting. They eventually told me at 10pm that I wasn't moving along quick enough and to go home. I came back in at 2am when they finally checked me and admitted me to labour ward. They put me on a bed and wouldn't let me get off or walk around at all. I was in agony and all they offered me was paracetamol. I asked for gas and air but the midwife turned around and said she didn't believe I was in that much pain and she wouldn't offer me anything stronger just yet. When she went home I was given another midwife who did give me has and air but still wouldn't let me walk around. After 20 hours of labour I asked for an epidural which they organised but they said it wouldn't go in because the bones in my back were to close together but they tried 7 times even though I asked them not to carry on. Still failed at putting it in and finally gave up trying. A doctor then came in and said I was doing well and my baby was very happy but if I didn't deliver within the next 10 minutes she would intervene. She came back and sighed with anger and sat down put my legs on stirrups, didnt tell me anything performed an episiotomy and delivered my baby by ventouse. My baby wasn't handed to me for 10 minutes and was cold by the time I was given her. On postnatal ward I was left all night with a screaming baby no breast feeding help, after 24 hours of labour and no food i was offered nothing to eat and when i asked they said they were too busy. And when they said I could go home 7pm the next day I still had the drip needle in my arm and I hadn't had my anti D injection. So that took another 2 hours to sort. Am pregnant again and will be having a home birth because I was so let down at this hospital.
