I went to A&E pm 10.03.09. Told by Specialist and doctor that after all examinations and treatments that if my X-Ray was OK then I could go home. After waiting for ages to have X-Ray taken was then bundled into a wheelchair by a member of staff and taken to the the assessment ward. Asking why I was told that I was being admitted there. My wife and me tried to tell the staff member of her mistake on several occasions, but she wouldn't listen. After being left in the Assessment ward managed to speak to another member of staff, told her a mistake had been made and asked her to read the case notes. She found them and yes I shouldn't have been in assessment, but on my way home. We then had to wait for the doctor who originally saw mw in A&E to come and rescue/send me home. I was at the hospital for hours.

Then had to return to A&E last night, the 12th, still unwell. Saw Doctor who said that I needed a nebuliser. This didn't arrive and after some considerable time my wife found the nurse and asked where it was. She said that she didn't know I was due to have one. All this time spent in unecessary discomfort. Then told by nurse that I could go home and would be given a prescription for medication. This couldn't be dispensed then due to the on site chemist being closed and would have to visit the next day to obtain.

Today visited hospital although feeling unwell to collect medication. In the pharmacy the dispensing doen't start until you hand the prescription in, you have to wait for ages. Why doesn't the prescription become actioned by an extra copy of the prescription going straight to the pharmacy, so when you visit its ready for collection? The Pharmacy is run by Lloyds. why don't they have a home delivery service for those who are unwell?

Anything else?

Its as though there is no ownership taken by anyone to make sure that things go to plan. The issues with A&E were both avoidable and the issue with the pharmacy is I believe well known to many people already. The PALS staff at the front desk knew all about it and the pharmacy room was jammed full of unhappy people all waiting lengthy periods.

I only have experienced this once, which is enough for me to cope with.
