"Cardiology Southend / Leigh-on -sea"

About: Southend Hospital

I am currently recovering from acute gout so find myself with time on my hands so thought I would get round to contacting the consultant and the team and thanking them all for the excellent care and attention I have received over the last 18 months or so . I was referred to the heart and chest department via my g p following a period of issues linked to my general health I have had the most extensive mot involving lots of tests i.e. blood tilt test, nuclear scan, angiogram. The improvement in the course 2005 compared to 2013 is vast we have gone from pieces of paper handouts to a binded personal work book the biggest single difference is the aftercare given /offered by the team at Leigh -on sea once I had been diagnosed with heart failure the contact and monitoring from the clinic has been reassuring, regular and first class. The whole process has evolved over recent years and provides an invaluable service where the patent can liase with the consultant and his team via all nursing, clerical staff. At a time when the NHS is much criticised your team shines and provides great service expert care and every member of staff I came into contact with come accross as a caring knowledgable member of a team that wanted to be there wanted to help and reassure. Thanks again. Well done and keep up the excellent work. Yours sincerely Roy Nurse

Dear Mr Nurse, Many thanks for your kind comments. I am really pleased that things have gone so well for you and that the attention you have received has been of a high standard. We aim to treat all of our patients in this way and sometimes staff do feel demoralised when criticism comes their way, so comments such as yours are always welcome and will be shared with the team involved. I hope you make a good recovery from your current illness and I would like to wish you well for the future. Kind regards Steve McEwen Patient Experience Lead
