My daughter has just come out of children services for health care, which was excellent in every department. I could not fault her care at all and, for that, I thank Grantham hospital Kingfisher unit. But now she has moved into adult services, her care is not being met by anybody. She has a rare life limiting condition and had problems with her peg sight in December. After many visits to doctors and hospitals, she was finally admitted to Pilgrim hospital at Boston just before Christmas. She was sent to clinical decisions unit were we waited for nine hours before being dealt with by a junior doctor, who was left unsupervised and making decisions about patients. It was run like a conveyor belt blocked up.
She was then moved up to the surgical ward, where her treatment did not get any better except from one nurse and domestic, who showed an understanding towards her and the nurse who shared our concerns. The senior surgeon came in and discharged her 48 hrs later and said there was nothing wrong, we took her home in pain and discomfort we had enough of watching this and ended up taking her to Nottingham who dealt with her in 20mins. They ended up fitting her with a temporary Mickey button, until they could order a bigger Mickey button and then refit it. The tract to her stomach had grown and the acid was burning her skin. Her old Mickey button was to small, this had been missed by everybody who seen her except QMC in Nottingham.
