"Feedback on waiting times & commnication"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute)

Sent for emergency gynae apptment today for scans. and told to get there at 2pm I know I was slotted in and they were very busy but 3.5 hours wait for 15 -20 mins contact time in total?. The doctor seemed rushed off her feet and there appeared to be not the best communication between reception and the doctor as some confusion about blood tests that my GP asked me to get while there. By the time that I had seen the dr the department for blood tests was closed and they asked me to to go off and get the blood tests while I was waiting...so that means a return trip. There is a notice in the waiting area saying we value your feedback and a box for these to be posted in but no actual forms to complete and no pens. I know the NHS is over stretched but some of the systems in place seem not to be most effective ie the forms I filled in on arrival duplicate information already known and could be filled in at home and submitted on line to save time for those who prefer that option. Like you do for check in at airports now in advance. Not knocking the NHS I think they do a great job with the limited resources available but the systems in it need to change to be more effective and efficient for all.
