"2 year old child longest wait"

About: The Great Western Hospital

2 year old child longest wait A 6 hour wait (7pm to 1am) for a 2 year with a fractured arm. 1 hour 30m till triage 2 hours 30m to see a doctor. 1 hour to tell me he had fractured his arm after they took the x ray. 1 hour wait for a temporary plaster. No idea of waiting times given. No priority for children. No communication. The Childrens waiting room was closed. It felt completely unorganised with no structure or routine being followed for patient care. The wait seemed totally unnecessary and it felt as though no order of care was followed. When staff had a shift change over I overheard a doctor say "how quiet it was tonight". So their handover and team brief was not great either when we had been waiting so long. In my opinion - not so Great Western!

Thank you for your comments. We're really sorry that your experience wasn't so great. We're really keen to look into what happened to try and improve services for the future, however in order to do so we'd need some additional details. If you'd be kind enough to contact our Customer Service team on 01793 604031 or email customer.service@gwh.nhs.uk, we can take all the information we need and look into this in more detail.
