"Patient Care? When?"

About: Lymington New Forest Hospital

I have an aunt in hospital who in the last six weeks has been moved to 4 different wards. Causing confusion and distress. Each time we have asked why she has been moved so often, we are met with different answers. Also there are huge differences between the doctors opinion of her treatment and medication, not to mention leaving her in bed for 6 weeks and it has gotton to the stage now where she can barely walk whereas before admission she was fully mobile. We were told last week she was being released, then we are told she's moving to a nursing home, then they said that she was being moved to a nursing home to get her back on her feet, then we are told she is being moved to a rehab centre newly opened in Ringwood. As her next of kin, we have not been informed of when she is moving wards or why. I feel her treatment has been appalling. She asks if she can get into a chair and get dressed, and again today she has been largely ignored except to be asked to fill in her dinner menu! I am disgusted. She is not senile, has no dementia yet is treated like a child, stuck in a bed 24 hours a day, not allowed to go to the bathroom, she has had one shower in 6 weeks, last week during our visit, she was roughly handled when she wanted to use the bathroom, and had been moved to a different ward yet again, she requested paracetomals for a migraine that was ignored again by the nurses, and left without even having a drink of water. If i had the choice, i would have her moved, her condition has become much worse due to lack of proper treatment. My aunt did a lot for this country it's a shame that now she is being treated as though she is nobody. Heaven help anyone who has an elderly relative that needs medical attention at Lymington Hospital!
