I should like to add my thanks and appreciation for the care and attention received during a recent admission. Just over a month ago I spent four and a half days in Ward E3 whilst having a planned keyhole operation for bowel resection. Prior to admission I was placed on the “enhanced recovery programme” which included preliminary tests, an explanation of the surgical procedure and follow-up in the days following discharge. On arrival in the ward I was given a quiet side room and was visited by the Surgeon and other members of his team. Although I had been extremely anxious and far from optimistic about the outcome in the preceding weeks, I was relaxed and optimistic by the time I went to theatre. I am now “out and about” again thanks to the surgical team and the nurses and staff involved in my treatment.
