About: North Tyneside General Hospital

I took my 2 week old son here on Wednesday night with a blistery rash on his body and he wasn't feeding well after waiting over an hour to be seen they checked him over told me it looked very bad and sore then told us to go and wait in the children's area after 2 hours I asked how long to be told 2-3 hours baring in mind there was 3 people in the waiting room I was 7th to be seen. I left and took my little one to RVI where I am still in hospital with him 3 days on as it was a serious matter and had to be put on antibiotics they seen him straight away and offered me nappies, milk etc for my baby while I was waiting no longer than 10 minutes for a doctor to come and explain to me what was wrong. Rake lane hospital is a poor excuse for a hospital.

Dear Sir / Madam, Thank you very much for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. I am so sorry that the unacceptable wait you had in A&E with a poorly 2 year old forced you to seek help in another hospital. I can only apologise for any distress this may have caused you. I'd very much share your concerns and want to provide the team with so more detail so that they can reflect on what went wrong last wednesday night. I'd be very grateful if you would get in touch with me directly at annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk I know the team will be keen to respond and learn. I do hope your wee boy is feeling a lot better now. With best wishes, Annie
