"Not pleased with CBT referral, after recurrent miscarriage"

Following multiple miscarriages I wasn't coping and went to my gp for help. I was offered anti-depressants which I refused as I knew I needed bereavement counselling. All my gp could offer was a referral for CBT with a clinical psychologist at Ladybank clinic. I went more out of politeness than anything.

In the opening statement the clinical psychologist said, so you've come to me because you can't get pregnant. What do you think I can do for you? I proceeded to tell the psychologist how I was feeling. The psychologist asked if I had considered adoption or asking someone to be a surrogate for me. I couldn't believe the lack of empathy and politely said that I was on a waiting list for counselling as I was consumed by grief and that I didn't think cbt would help with this.

I went on to have bereavement counselling with a local charity, which turned my life around. I think it's awful that despite spelling out what I felt I needed I was sent down this pathway as it's the closest thing the GP could offer. I feel the approach of the Clinical Psychologist was appalling.
