"Support from school nurse"

About: Locala Community Partnerships CIC / School nursing Kirklees

(as the patient),

I first saw a school nurse back in year 7 when I started at King James High School. I found this very difficult and was always upset and anxious about going into school. So my pastoral lead referred me to the school nurse and she met up with me after about 3 sessions I felt a lot better and I was happy to end my time with the school nurse.

A few years later things have started to change and again I am finding it hard. I spoke with my pastoral lead and asked to be referred back to the school nurse, However I asked if I could see the same nurse who was Bev. I was told it may be a different one that comes to see me.

I have the first appointment and was happy to see it was Bev that had come to see me. We spoke about what the problems was and then Bev asked me if I remembered what we did back in year 7. I said yes and she asked me to do the same techniques and she would met with me again.

I have since met up with Bev again and I was happy to tell her that I am now more settled and I have thanked her for her support once again. I have now finished with the school nurse but know I can always contact her and ask to see her if I am at all worried.

I have never had anyone who is so caring and kind speak with me before and put me at ease. I would like to say a great big thank you to her.

Hi

Thank you for posting such a thoughtful and personal story. It is great to hear how one of Locala's school nurses has helped you. I will certainly make sure that Bev sees your comments - it will mean a great deal to her.

I am pleased that you are now in a place where you don't need the same support, however should things ever change again for you then do not hesitate to get whatever help you need.

All best wishes for the future.

Emma
