"Poor care"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

I was taken to A&E (Minors) by ambulance, the crew were first class professionals, polite and caring. I was put in a cubicle in A&E, the paramedic cleaned the bed, The floor had tissues with blood laying around. .I was in discomfort and had to ask for a pillow. A nurse wandered in and wandered out again without doing or saying anything. I was left alone in the cubicle without seeing anyone for ages, I thought they had forgotten me. Eventually a nurse came and put a cannula in my arm and took bloods. I appreciate that I had to wait for blood test results but it would have been nice if a nurse popped in occasionally to ask how I was. The team were so slow and had a couldn't care less attitude, certainly not up to the high standard of MAU and the wards. Maybe the team were tired, they acted that way.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am pleased to note that the ambulance crew remained professional throughout a pressured time. I am sorry to learn however, that you felt alone during your admission as this would most definitely not have been our staff member's intention. If you would like to discuss this further then please contact our PALS team at PHT.PatExp@porthosp.nhs.uk or via free phoen on 0800 971 6039 as they would be more than happy to look into this further for you.
