"My disgusting experience"

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was taken into Boston, Pilgrim Hospital by ambulance as I had glandular fever and was struggling to breathe. Once I arrived at the hospital everything was OK at first, then I was put into a different room and pretty much forgotten about.

When a doctor finally got round to seeing me, it seemed to me he was not speaking in English. How am I supposed to understand anything? I was then told I'd be given pain relief and something to cool me down as I had a temperature of 40, and was also told I’d get something to drink or to rehydrate me as I was dehydrated. I never received any of these. I then saw another doctor, who I also could not really understand a word of, who gave me a prescription and then discharged me. Still, with a temperature of 40, still dehydrated and still in pain.

I was discharged in the middle of the morning and it seemed I was expected to walk 20 miles home because they refused to provide me with help with transport. I had no way at all of getting home and had to sit outside in the cold all night until 11 am when I could finally get a lift.

Not only did I feel worse after this, I also missed my son's very first day in nursery. This hospital and their customer care is disgusting.
