"Vascular ward"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

During my stay on Ward 7, for cervical rib excision, I was impressed by the dedication and care of all the staff. They were friendly and reassuring and yet not over-familiar. They worked so hard to ensure the well-being of all the patients in their care. I have never seen such an 'individual patient' centred establishment. This makes all the difference to a relaxed stay and quick recovery. Some of the abuse from one less appreciative patient was unacceptable and I felt that those staff who were obviously committed to every patient should not have to tolerate this and neither should people who are ill have to witness and be intimidated by it. Thank you to all those people who had anything whatsoever to do with my proceedure and especially to the consultant who deserves much more than my thanks for his pleasant demeanour, expert attention and professionalism. His bedside manner should be held up as an example to all.
