"Maternity"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

Terrible birth experience. The midwife spent most of the time out of the room instead of supporting me. I was placed on a hormone drip to increase contractions however the machine was failing to pick them up so instead of observing and timing them they kept ramping up the dose until i was having one immediately after the other. Despite showing signs of transition i was left again and it was my partner who had to call as he saw the baby crowning. I was given the injection to speed the removal of the placenta without being asked. I was not given immediate skin to skin despite it being requested before hand. There was no medical indication for this. The doctors were rude and arrogant and the mother is treated like a piece of meat with no free will and the fathers even worse. Had to spend the night on post natal ward for observations. Arrived at 12pm. Not one person came to see me or orientate me to the ward or more importantly do the observations on the baby for 10 hrs. Even then no one checked the HR with the stethoscope. No support. Food was terrible and the following day i had to stop the midwife giving medication to my baby that was meant for a different baby....twice. Had to self discharge in the end to escape their incompetence. Absolutely appalling care from antenatal to post natal. Avoid Whipps X.
