"Choose & Book System"

About: St Helens Hospital

I was referred by my GP to Cardiology via Choose & Book. Unfortunately the Whiston Hospital computer system was down and not "talking" to the Choose & Book system nationally. Consequently I couldn't choose an appointment, so I tried to go through the hospitals' own appointment system. They point blank refused to help with my request and were not the slightest bit sympathetic the fact that it was their system that didn't work. I complained to the appointments manager who asked me to try again in a day or so, and that my "place in the queue would not get worse! How wrong she was! Eventually after 6 days the system was up and running. The earliest appointment then available was 14 days later than originally offered. Pathetic! Wish me luck please!
