"Impossible to contact gynaecologist"

Hello, My wife has been unable to contact her gynaecologist, she is supposed to get a yearly test, but every time we ring the gynaecologist's secretary or our GP attempts to contact him nobody is ever able to make contact. We were given an appointment by text message for the 1st September, problem was it didn't state what the appointment was for or where to go. So we didn't make the appointment. 5 days later a letter has arrived from the gynaecologist's office saying that because we missed the appointment my wife has been referred back to our GP. I'd love for my wife to meet the gynaecologist, problem is he is impossible to contact by either us or other parts of the NHS. Can you help?
