"Poorly managed discharge and minimum care provided"

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) (London)

My father was happy with his stay at St Mary's but I was not. He was there was for two weeks after a fall fracturing his hip and only on the last day after repeated requests did he receive a hair wash. I was very annoyed at this given his scalp condition with psoriasis. I noticed another patient left several times on the commode leaving him to shout repeatedly for assistance. The discharge was very very badly managed. It was rushed before the bank holiday. He received no assessment at home for the first three weeks. He has still not received the equipment at home that he should have such as railings for get into the bathroom and toilet and he has not yet been visited by a physio since no referral was made until very late. The minimum equipment that did arrive (commode and bed frame) came on the morning he left being ordered the day before! No letter was also sent to his GP and too few urinals were provided along with other medication. No one at the hospital bothered to speak to me about his discharge until the last day for 5 minutes on the phone. Very annoyed and disappointed since this is meant to be a teaching hospital.
