"Absolutely horrible nurse and over 4 hour wait"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

I went to the children's department after I hurt my hand, we waited about an hour just to get sen by one of them nurses who calls you in to just check whats wrong with you, this nurse however made it even worse. She said *Name* tell me whats wrong with you, even before me and my parents sat down! Then she repeated that again in a horrible stern voice, so I pointed at my mum since I'm very shy and don't really like talking where the nurse basically shouted "No, you tell me"! That made me so scared! We then said get on the scales! She didn't even say please or thank you or look at my hand! When we got back into the waiting room it took 2 hours for somebody to say to get it x-rayed. We waited in the X-ray bit for about 30minutes and went back to the main waiting area, to be seen by somebody else. 2 hours that took for somebody to say its not broken and might have a small crack and soft tissue damage! Then another 30 minutes to get it strapped up, while waiting for someone to call me to strap my fingers up, I was really scared about it, if if was that really mean woman. Also, we saw her arguing about a doctor putting some paper in a box without saying what it was, the faces she pulled were horrifying! Luckily we didn't get her and we got a nicer woman who strapped me up. We want to know the horrible nurses name so we can complain about her, but this will have to do now. Do not go to Bolton hospital children's ward if you want to get treated horribly by the staff or wait a lifetime to get seen.

The behaviour you describe is certainly not acceptable and we have pointed out your comments to the staff. Regarding the wait for your X-ray results, once the X-ray is taken we need to wait for a doctor to be availablet to assess it. Unfortunately this may take time due to demand within the department and varying clinical priorities. We're very sorry that your experience at the hospital was not good.
