"Aortic Aneurism"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / General medicine

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Doncaster Royal Infirmary on the afternoon of Saturday the 24th January 2009 for pre-medical checks including blood pressure. Surgery took place on Monday 26th January at approximately 9.00am to repair my aortic aneurism. As far as I know the surgery was performed as per requirements. I was then sent to the ICU for recovery and then returned to ward 18 on the 5th floor. I remained in ward 18 until discharged on the 9th February 2009. During the time that I was in ward 18, there were daily checks of blood pressure and blood tests. Being a user of Warfarin, I was given blood tests to return my blood INR back to normal. On the morning of discharge, my blood was back to normal and I was informed that I could return home. The ward notified my wife who arranged to have clothes sent in. I waited for medication and a blood book which did not arrive until after 5pm. The ward then arranged transport to send me home.
