"Concerns about waiting times"

About: Leicester General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had an mri on my lower back 5 weeks ago after a consultant referral. since seeing the consultant, my condition has worsened and I have agonising sciatica, so my quality of life at the moment is poor. I was just wondering how long it takes for the results to come back and referral back to consultant. I was found to have a stress fracture, severe degeneration of facet joints l4 and l5, and mild scoliosis on an x ray back in may, which was why I was sent for an mri.

Hi Sadie,

We recommend that you contact your GP to chase up the results. The results of your scan should have been shared with them by now and they should know if you need a follow up appointment or anything else.

If your GP is not helpful, you can contact your consultant's secretary directly to find out more. Their contact details should be your appointment/referral letter. If not, you can call our switchboard on 0300 303 1573 and ask to be put through to them.

I hope that helps,

Kind regards

Laura Mort

Hi Sadie, We are not quite sure why this comment has only just been pulled through from Patient Opinion to appear on NHS Choices, but would like to refer you to the reply we posted at the time: "We recommend that you contact your GP to chase up the results.
