On Friday 29th August whilst on holiday in Cornwall, I was suddenly taken quite seriously ill and had to be taken to Derriford Hospital by Ambulance from Looe. I was immediately taken to Accident & Emergency and from there to Torcross Critical Care Unit where I was looked after for a heart condition. It was necessary for my treatment to include having a Pacemaker fitted and this operation was arranged for the day after I was admitted. I was home by Sunday night! Naturally, this was a frightening experience for both me and my family, but the entire situation was made far more comfortable by all the staff at the hospital who were absolutely amazing. I was treated with great kindness and respect by absolutely every single individual I came into contact with - from the surgeon, doctors and nurses, to the ward staff and the lady who came round with the tea! A special mention must also go to the Paramedic and the Ambulance operatives who tended to me in Looe and who negotiated a very fast, but safe, journey to the hospital. THANK YOU ALL Brian Thompson
