"Care was good"

About: Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

My daughter was transferred here from oldham hospital as she needed a paediatric plastic surgeon after taking the top of her finger off! The staff were great, I had a bed next to hers, there's a patents room so you can make yourself a brew and plenty of places to get something to eat. The only complaint I have is with the government cutting back on funding. There was only 1 theatre open so she had to wait nearly 24 hours to have her finger reattached due to no theatre space. 1 theatre in a Children's hospital that covers the whole of greater manchester and pretty much the whole of the northwest is disgraceful.

Thank you for your comments regarding your daughter’s care on 02.09.14.

Your positive feedback regarding the ward has been passed on to the Ward Manager so that it can be shared with staff.

We were sorry to receive your concerns about the wait for your daughter’s surgical procedure. The Hospital Director has asked the Theatre team to review the last 3 months of activity on the Emergency Theatre list, then to gather this information on an ongoing basis, to focus on how long children are waiting for theatre. When this information is available it will be analysed and appropriate actions identified.
