"Excellent in various departments"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

I had heard this hospital is in special measures so was worried when I first went it. I have been to their A&E, physio, urology and cardiology departments. (I have had a lousy year) I really have been impressed with the medical and nursing staff. Have attended outpatients as well as having been admitted with a heart problem and all on the NHS. The WVS also does well. Only major issue is the car parking - nightmare so I have to arrive at about 8am for a mid morning appointment or get the bus. Actually the bus service is very good but have been forced for various reasons to use the car - not a happy experience. Not sure if anything can be done though

Dear Mr Merritt Thank you for taking the time to leave such positive feedback about your recent experiences at Wexham Park Hospital. I am pleased to hear that you have been impressed with the medical, nursing and therapy staff in all the different departments you have visited. This is the experience we are aiming for all of our patients consistently every day. I am sorry that the car parking has not been such as positive experience for you. The trust in the past year has opened 78 new spaces for the visitors to use for parking and we also hope to convert another 34 spaces to visitors over the next 2 months coming in gate 4. We have a dedicated bus service running every 15 minutes from Slough station direct to the trust taking normally 10 minutes to get here. I'm pleased to hear that you have found it good. We have a cycle to work scheme, a car share scheme and a further off site car park for 200 spaces. In the long term if given planning permission we hope to open a further 700 spaces in several phases to help ease congestion within the car park facilities as this is one of the trust priorities in 2015. I hope this provides you with an update and some reassurance that we are hoping to tackle the parking issue as soon as possible. Best wishes for your continued recovery Claire Marshall Associate Director of Patient Experience and Public Involvement
