I attended Ward 20 on August 22nd for surgery to my right foot.I was treated with respect and dignity from my arrival at 7am until my discharge at 3pm.All of the staff found the time to talk to me and keep me informed of what was happening and when.My consultant saw me on the ward and explained the surgical procedure to me,I also saw him after my surgery. The theatre staff were just as attentive as the ward staff and I cannot praise the anaesthetist enough for explaining about the anaesthesia and most of the equipment that surrounded me.He also came to see me post surgery. Back on the ward all of my care and needs were undertaken with a few words and a smile. The physiotherapist also saw me and gave advice. On discharge my paperwork, pain relief and follow up appointment were all handed to me. I do not think that many people enjoy going into hospital but the staff on Ward 20 did there part to take away the apprehension that I had.If you are reading this because you are due to go there for surgery, please do not worry, you will be well looked after.
"A positive experience."
