"Very impressed with Rotherham"

About: Rotherham Hospital

(as the patient),

Last year I attended Rotherham General for a series of tests where I had to visit firstly a consultant and have x-rays. My urine and blood was also tested. Then my adrenal gland was checked as well as my abdomen. Lastly, I had a pelvis scan.

At all times the visits were made more comfortable by the friendliness of the staff. A particular mention for the nurses who take blood, they were most jolly!

I think more still needs to be done to change the smoking directly by the main entrance. I know it's well signed but it's horrible to see people desperately dragging on cigarettes especially if they are on a drip or in pyjamas.

But all in all, very impressed.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on this website, and how wonderful to read such positive comments. I am pleased that your visits to the hospital were made more comfortable by the staff you came into contact with.

I am sorry, however, to read of your concerns regarding smokers outside the main entrance of the hospital. As you are aware, the Trust has implemented a smoking ban in all buildings and grounds. Whilst this has been successful on the whole, I am sorry if you encountered a minority of patients smoking at the main entrance. In an effort to combat this and enforce the ban, the Trust has employed a full time smoking warden since 01 December 2008 to patrol the grounds.

Thank you once again for your post.
