I was patient at Bishop Auckland Hospital for a knee replacement, from August 19th 2014. I was on Ward 18, and I was in the hospital and on the Ward for 3 days. My care in every aspect was excellent. The nurses, physio, doctors, Theatre staff and ancilliary staff across all shifts were first class. Ward staff were extremely friendly, very informative, and clearly experienced in all that they did. They created a positive atmosphere in what can be a difficult environment. A great team, managed extremely well. I was informed and advised on every aspect of my treatment and care, and in some cases told what I needed to do. All for my benefit. The food , whilst it will never be 5 star, was tasty and the portion sizes and choices were fine by me. I have nothing but praise for all concerned. The standards appear very high. Reaching those standards is difficult, but maintaining them is even harder!
