What I liked

The courteous ward staff (B28), and this includes everyone from Ward Sister down to the domestic assistant. I experienced very little waiting from admission to having my day surgery. Everything was explained to me and this made me feel reassured.

What could be improved

The communication between nursing staff and doctors regarding my medication. My consultant had prescribed pre and post opertative antibiotics but the microbiologist insisted that it be change. Upon discharge I spoke with the Consultant who said to carry on with what he had advised.

Anything else?

I was absolutely horrified to be charged an exobitant fee of £10 for the hospital to complete my HSA form. As an overnight stay pays £45, I end up paying 25%+ to the hospital for the priveledge. As a nurse myself, I am unaware of any other establishment, NHS or private, who levy any charge. I should like to know where this money goes, ie. patient services, executives pockets etc. etc.
