"Arrival in Ambulance on BankHoliday Weekend.."

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

After ringing 999 for help for the first time in our lives..as very much OAPs ..we were surprised but so reassured by a visit from the Local Fire Brigade Medic..who had all the equipment to test my wife and then administered Oxygen.. [[We had never realised there was such a wonderful link up with NHS]] and with my confused memory of the evening.. I am afraid that I have forgotten the Chap's name..but could someone please mention to him that he was much valued that evening. Ambulance soon followed and smooth change over of responsibility to an ever so caring Team...Sadly.. with the hectic to us ..our first Ambulance ride.. I have forgotten both their names ..but their smooth but warm procedures were reassuring and the one to one care also took place all the way on A Blue Light trip to the Hospital,,Both are a credit to the Service..We would like to thank them both very much. It was much cooler when we arrived at the hospital.. late evening and during the longer period of time I do remember that we were.. Met by person who carried out all the mundane reception tasks with a pleasant calm professionalism.. and when waiting for routine feedback..she was happy to explain the details of ongoing tests.and the later allocation of a Ward ..obviously with the passage of time they had her Break and a Trainee continued to watch over during her absence.. They explained the complexities related to Tests and inevitable delay and promised to phone me when my wife was relocated within the hospital,, hence I went home knowing that mywife was in good hands..and they then did phone too,, How different to so many promises given and not kept by other Huge organisations.. My wife is still ongoing with treatment in Ward 10 ..but as she was able to catch up with Coronation Street and her Soaps when i visited thanks to the guest WiFi..she has been much cheered up..so ..First Impressions of an Emergency Reception.. "Olde Worlde Values at a HI-Tech Hospital"
