On the basis of NHS "spillage," I spent 5 days at this hospital. Whilst the clinical care cannot be criticised, I am totally convinced that the poor, bland, and limited choices of food, were down to the fact that I was an NHS patient and so was not allowed the privilege of the secondary"superior" menu, reserved for private patients. In addition, as, over that infamous 5 day period, I repeatedly rejected what was on offer, or left most of the food as uneaten, I was most surprised to learn that this did not "flag up" a level of concern for the attention of the medical staff. I now understand if I had been offered both menus, at the time of ordering the next meal, then irrespective of whether or not there would have been an additional charge, at least I would have had the choice.
