"Worst hospital experience of my life"

About: Bedford Hospital South Wing

When we arrived we waited about 20 mins. I was taken to my bed were we sat another 30mins before I was prepared. During this time a woman was brought in on a trolley screaming her head off this carried for about 3hrs. Why something was not done to calm her or move to some were more quiet I dont know. There was 3 of us waiting that lunch time to have cardiograms to be done the screaming was stressing us all out. my pre op prep took about 40 mins. I then waited till after 2pm. I was in a state they gave me some meds that had no effect. I walked into operating room. When surgeon started on my right wrist after about 25 mins on endless agony of him trying to go into my wrist. He said vein is to thin I will go in your groin prep the groin. During this time two female nurse at my head were holding my hand and faning me and they both kept telling the surgeon She is in pain she can still feel it. I lost count after about 7 locals. The pain and shock of feeling all this pain I nearly passed out a few times. My arm only went numb and completely dead when he started on my groin. The groin didnt take to long.By the time I was getting wheeled out of the operating room my wrist started to really hurt. When I got into the ward they took the tube out which was painful and the nurse that did that was rough but I guess had to be. In case I bled. after 10 mins. I lay back in agony my wrist was really hurting. It was starting to bruise black already. My better half checked my wrist and counted 17 needle holes in the same place on my wrist. During the next few hrs I told two people about my wrist. One said he poss caught the nerve. The other brought me some pain killers so they said. That did nothing no change at all I came in 11.30am I left at 6pm. I was off work that fri sat/sun and the mon. I went to work on the tues but couldnt use my wrist so had to go home and was off work the rest of the week.I went to the Drs on that Tues about my wrist two drs were looking at it both asked me who did it. Is was swollen and the whole of my right arm was black and blue from the top part of my palm to the inside of my elbow. The Dr said judging by different things they asked me to do They think the nerve was def touched and hopefully not damaged. That was the 18th of July 2014 my wrist still aches now and then. All this should not have happened. I felt the pain from the start the whole time I was there. Untill about an hr after I got home when I took paracetamol. I had a letter to say after my heart op at Papworth I need to go for a recheck 4 weeks later. One thing I will make clear I will be calling them and telling them I will go back but I will not speak to the person who did my angiogram. As both of us will get extremely angry with him. Ive taken a load of pictures at various stages of my wrist in a state.
