"completely disgusted!"

About: James Paget University Hospital

I have always rated this hospital but after my recent visit concerning my 11 month old daughter I am very disappointed! I visited ane originally who I must say were very helpful no complaints there but once I got to the children's ward it just got ridiculous! I was made to feel like I was just a 'worrying' mother several times I was asked 'is this your first child' in a condescending tone implying that I didn't know what I was doing! I was then sent home with antibiotics for my child which is fine, I then had an appointment the next week and was referred back onto the ward! Where I waited 4 DAYS for an ultrasound, and was continuesly told they were to busy! I repeated many times that I thought my daughter wasn't right! Ultrasound completed I was discharged without the doctor coming round to talk about the ultrasound results! I then said I think my daughter still has tonsillitis and the nurse was very snotty and said the doctor got 'bleeped' so he had to go so I'm best to just go home and see my doctor! They had no suitable food for an 11 month old, the playroom floor was filthy and I was treated like a child my entire visit! I have a huge list of more complaints I could make but I imagine it's pointless and won't get me anywhere! So now I'm at home with a very unhappy 11 month old baby with no clue what to do!

I am so sorry that you feel this way. I appreciate it must be a very worrying time. I would urge you to get in touch with us so we can please resolve these issues. If you aren't keen to talk to the department direct, you could contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service, who would be able to help you. They are contactable at PALS@jpaget.nhs.uk or 01493 343240. I hope we hear from you soon. Ann Filby, Head of Communications & Trust Secretary
