"Come on St Richards - Sort out your processes"

About: St Richard's Hospital

My wife and I went in for a mid wife appointment, all went well. Bloods were taken, we were advised that the bloods would be back within 48 hours and that our NHS dating scan (already late because the NHS had lost all of my wife's paperwork somewhere between the doctors and St Richards, resulting in us having to pay for private consultation) would be booked quickly. A week on, no letters, no calls, nothing. We phoned and finally got the blood results. Now we try to book the ultrasound! Oh no, apparently the midwife team hasn't passed over her details to ultrasound! Ultrasound wont help, Midwife cannot be contacted directly apparently, Passed from pillar to post. Still no appointment and my wife will be 15 weeks this week. You ring and the phone just rings, you're put on hold and no one comes back to the phone. You speak to one team who advise you you need to speak to someone else, who then refer you back to the original team you spoke to! My wife is now extremely stressed, and fretting as a result of their bad processes. Not great considering that she is pregnant. Nice patient care St Richards. Tell us honestly, do you care about your maternity patients? What are you going to do about this mess? I have to write this here because frankly it seems that this is the only forum that this place responds to.

We are very sorry to hear that you have not had a good experience of the early pregnancy booking and scan process but want to reassure you that we value your comments and will be circulating your feedback to our midwifery teams so that we can review the current process in order to avoid this happening in future. Our aim is to provide all maternity patients with the information and support that they require and we are sorry that we have not achieved this in this instance.
