"Tests not undertaken by dermatology"

I asked whether it was possible for anyone to be allergic to titanium prior to spinal surgery at MPH and my consultant said that it was not possible to be allergic to titanium. I was, however, then sent to the dermatology department at Musgrove Park Hospital, as I explained that I had sensitive skin and had a slight discoloured patch of skin on my back where the operation would take place. The dr said it would be ok for me to have the operation and that it would cause no problems with the operation or my future health. No skin patch testing was recommended prior to this major operation in which 21 screws and 2 rods were inserted into my spine. I had informed them that I could wear gold, silver and platinum jewellery with no problems. However, I had never worn titanium or any of the other component parts of this alloy so how would I know if I was allergic to this? No suggestion was made to test me for allergies at any point. Surely having sensitive skin and a skin problem which had already been biopsied previously he should have suggested tests before this operation? I have suffered terribly from my body rejecting the metalwork and having to have this removed from my spine, all because no one did the relevant tests beforehand. I now suffer from multiple allergies and immune system problems which I did not have before this operation and which they cannot seem to get under control even though they have “investigated” fully. It has ruined my life and I live in regret of the dermatologist's decision and would suggest anyone else to go elsewhere. As for titanium allergy being rare, I have since found lots of other people who have become allergic after having implants in their body.
