Last month I came in for an operation on my knee. At first I was told I would only be staying in that day so first arrived on the day ward. After my operation waking up in absolute pain, later finding out that the surgeons forgot to put local anthaesetic in my knee at the end of the op. I was then taken to ward 14, put in an area all on my own. I asked for my belongings as I wanted my phone to contract my family. I was left for nearly 2 hours before anyone came back to see me and bring me my belongings. I didn't know what was happening. I found out from my family that I was staying in overnight. At my pre op appointment I informed the nurse that I cannot take tablets and terrified of needles and suffer from anxiety. This was all fine for the staff on the day ward and through to the operating staff. Upon arriving on ward 14 this obviously was not fine for them. They kept pushing tablets on to me telling me they are only small you can take them, and were put out when I said I couldn't. I've never been so scared in all my life. One particular nurse that was on the night staff was very rude to me. The following day still not knowing what was happening, I have visits from physio, they get me moving a little enough so that I can be discharged, of which I don't find out until 7pm that evening. My family arrive to take me home, we ask for a wheelchair to get to the hospital entrance we are told no, so I had to walk. I thought it was hospital protocol to take patients from a ward in a wheelchair, anything could of happened to me. This is my third knee operation at this hospital and this is the worst I've been treated.
