"Need better social care - not "positive..."

About: Lincoln County Hospital

A&E is a nightmare for someone with dementia and their carers. The nursing and medical care were great and as swift as possible but we were there for over 4 hours and no-one offered us a cup of tea or checked if we were OK. I cannot leave my dad to fetch tea, go to the toilet or find help so we were stuck in a corner cubicle feeling abandoned, hungry and thirsty - not easy for someone with dementia or me. The lovely nurse who rescued me said that the nurse didn't realise we were still there......By then Dad had wet himself and was very upset and did not know what on earth to do as getting a member of staff was impossible - the nurses station faces away from the cubicles! Next time i will need to be far more assertive and make a nuisance of myself demanding help although I do not want to have to do so.
