"appendectomy"

About: Conquest Hospital

I am 23 and I was recently referred to the Surgical Assessment Unit by my GP with ?Appendicitis. I was given an Ultrasound which showed my appendix was inflamed, surprising both the Doctors and Nurses. The staff were all very friendly, caring and attentive, I could not have asked for them to have made my stay and experience there any better than it was. It needs to be commented on, and I wish I knew the name of the recovery nurse who looked after me once I woke after the surgery because she was amazing, I was screaming and crying in so much pain, she gave me more pain relief, comforted me, chatted to me and held my hand which I am sure must have been sore for her once I let go. She definitely made my experience all that much better and I wont forget how she cared and made me feel! I am currently studying Children's Nursing and although I would have much rather not had surgery it has allowed me to experience it from the other side and I will be able to use the skills these nurses used to make me feel more comfortable and at ease. Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience with the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) at the Conquest Hospital. We are delighted to read your positive comments about staff, not to mention your words of appreciation for the standard of care you recieved. Your comments have been passed onto the senior staff responsible for SAU and theatres, who will ensure your posting is shared with all team members. It is a real morale boost for staff to receive feedback like this from patients and their relatives. It means such a lot to know that the hard work, dedication and commitment is recognised and valued in this way. It is also very satisfying for staff to hear they have made such a positive difference to a patient like the difference your recovery nurse made to you. We wish you a speedy recovery and the best of luck with your future career in Childrens Nursing.
