Your comments have been shared with the senior clinical staff and the managers responsible for the clinic, who are keen to use your feedback to improve the service. They are sorry that your experience on this occasion fell below the high standards they strive to achieve every time. Regarding the delay you experienced, it would not normally take eight weeks for an appointment: this occurred due to staff sickness as there is only one clinical nurse specialist (CNS) that runs this clinic. Staffing levels have now been rectified and we will aim to make sure that you do not experience such a delay in the future. The CNS is female, but the Consultant Cardiologist who is the lead for this service is a male. We apologise that you were not informed of this. In the light of your experience the service is changing its letter to patients to read, “the nurse is female and if you want to be seen by a male doctor this can be arranged, although this may mean waiting a bit longer for the appointment".
