"The Eye Clinic Office"

About: St Richard's Hospital

I wanted to say how pleased my husband and I have been with regard to the kindness and efficiency of the staff working in the Eye Clinic Office. We have encountered no end of delays for my husband's treatment, who was told by his optician in November that he may have a cancerous growth in his eye. We have experienced trips to Worthing, delays related to his operation and lost referral letters to Moorfields. Without the help of the wonderful girls in the office I don't know what we would have done, as we have been living with the threat of cancer since November, which of course has been very stressful. We are still waiting to be seen by Moorfields (who have lost our referral letter!) although we were referred 15th July 2014. However, the secretarys are now on the case, and I feel sure they will help resolve this issue. I was always under the impression that if cancer is suspected you should be seen within a fortnight...this didn't happen. The consultant was also on the ball having received the result of the biopsy, and called us in straight away to give us the bad news, that indeed the growth was cancerous. Last, but not least, the telephone exchange at St. Richard's is not fit for purpose....it took me 40 minutes to get through on Monday. There is a site where you can nominate employee of the month...unfortunately I don't think it will take three names....you are all stars! Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback about our services. We are pleased to hear that the staff at the eye clinic have been so helpful and kind to you. However we are concerned to hear of your challenges in accessing the care you need and offer our sincere apologies for this. We would like to ensure that your care and treatment is progressing appropriately and are keen to talk to you in more detail about your experience to date. The NHS Choices website does not share your details with us as it is a confidential site. We would therefore be grateful if you would contact our PALS service. You can do this by calling our PALS department on 01243 831822 or emailing PALSChichester@wsht.nhs.uk. Thank you once again for giving your feedback at what must be a very stressful and worrying time.
