"Accident and emergency treatment."

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I went to Altrincham minor injuries unit to check out a problem with my left lower leg.I had a constant pain and swelling for several days, couldn't remember an injury, knock, bump etc. They said I could have a DVT and refused to let me have an X-ray there. So I had to get a taxi to Wythenshawe A&E.The reception staff are some of the most sulky, ignorant hospital staff I have ever encountered and I have lived in several cities in the U.K.This particular woman seemed to think it more important to sort out paperwork than attending to me.When she finally got my details,I went to sit in the waiting area on the most uncomfortable chairs imaginable.I couldn't prop my leg up.I suffer from constant chronic pain,I have Lyme Disease and those seats made it worse,I got up and hobbled around occasionally, this got to be exhausting after a while. Then I was seen by triage nurse, then had a blood test to determine if I had a DVT.Waited a further hour and fifteen minutes then saw a doctor who said I didn't have a D V T,but needed an X-ray to determine the problem.Back to those accursed chairs, took a soluable paracetamol and slow release Co-Codamol capsule,I was in way too, much pain by then, mostly caused by the chairs. After three hours,I was exhausted,in agony, which eclipsed the soreness of my leg and was passed caring what was wrong with it.Tried reception again, sulky woman said I would have to continue to wait.I had had enough,so I phoned for a taxi and went home. This hospital needs to sort out the seating and provide comfortable seats for the elderly and people who are already in pain without making it worse.
