I was probably lucky that I arrived at the department during a quiet time but, nevertheless, the check in system worked very efficiently with the technology immediately recognising my name and date of birth. The medical staff were all very caring and professional and the Nurse Practitioner who stitched the nasty gash on my arm was so proficient he could, I am sure, have a new and more lucrative career sewing for Paul Smith! There was a waiting area which was out of commission due to a leak which was awaiting maintenance work but facilities generally appeared clean and well maintained. I am aware that Kings Mill has been going through a difficult time recently but my experience supports the view that its staff are its biggest asset and,as long as there are sufficient numbers on duty to care for the volume of patients, the service they provide will be exceptional. Hopefully, living nearer to Newark Hospital, I would have received a similar standard of care at my 'local hospital' had my friend driven me there. Please convey my sincere thanks to all concerned and best wishes for future success of both hospitals. Carole Mitchell
